Another Area of Expertise

Last week paint makers AkzoNobel and Axalta Coatings Systems announced that the companies would be merging to create an enterprise with combined revenues of more than $17 billion.  THE planet’s second largest coatings manufacturer after Sherwin-Williams now that PPG has divested.

I plan to add coverage of the merger as it seems likely to impact the US market but don’t worry, I won’t start that today.

Last week an employee at Pittsburgh Paints created a new sub-Reddit for his coworkers at that brand and invited me to make the first post.  Going further they suggested I begin with a non-paint topic. 

Fortunately on a topic also in my area of expertise.

You Bet

As we all enjoy our feasts THE undefeated and # 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes football team prepare to play the University of Michigan in a game considered by many to be the greatest rivalry in sports.  Current lines have THE Buckeyes favored to win by 10 with the over-under set at 44 points total, low considering Ohio State’s potent offense, though lately I’ve been betting on THE dee.    

Giving the points and taking the under pays +395 for Buckeye fans, enough to entice the parlay for those who don’t mind giving points on the road.  For those who do you can take THE Buckeyes to win on the moneyline with Michigan scoring less than 10 ½ points which pays +280, still generous for what feels like a safer bet.    

Taking Michigan under 16 ½ points pays +186 which seems a safe bet considering that Ohio State’s defense has given up less than nine-points per game on average and have already faced tougher challenges than Michigan.  Parlay that with a touchdown from running back Bo Jackson paying +315 or get greedy by adding another from receiver Jeremiah Smith, who should be fresh after taking the week off against Rutgers. 

THE three-legger pays +525 and is my bet of the week so I boosted the payout to +567. If this one hits it might get loud.

If there’s a better way to spend a Saturday than smoking weed and betting football you can suggest it to me here though the pattern is so ingrained I doubt you’ll make a convert.  Betting the games since before I was a bar mitzvah I added weed as a freshman, introducing peanut butter to my jelly. “Pushed” into that vice by a fraternity brother who supplied me, I saw no reason to report the crime. 

But I think the statute of limitations has expired.
